Further strengthening relationship between Vietnamese and South African Women

VWU’s Vice President Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Huong expressed her pleasure to welcome the delegation of the South African Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture to visit and work with the VWU. The Vice President said that 2023 was an important year for the two countries to celebrate the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (1993-2023). “We are pleased to witness many exciting activities between the two countries including the hybrid Seminar “The role of Vietnamese and South African women in national economic development: Building partnerships towards shared prosperity", the visit of the delegation of Mpumalanga province and the South African Embassy to the women’s community tourism model in Thuong Tin district, Hanoi City... This delegation's visit makes an important contribution to the series of commemorative activities to consolidate and strengthen the Vietnam - South Africa relationship” she said.

Recognizing that sports activities have a great impact on women’s lives, the VWU has launched a folk dance movement among women nationwide to support them in improving their physical and mental health, meeting the requirements of the country’s sustainable development. Ms. Minh Huong also introduced more about the VWU’s affiliating units operating in the fields of culture, tourism, and business such as: Vietnamese Women's Museum, Vietnam Women's Newspaper, Vietnamese Women Publishing House, Vietnam Association for Women Entrepreneurs, Vietnam Peace Tour Company.

Two leaders are discussing the issues of mutual interests.

Responding to VWU’s Vice President, Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture of South Africa Nocawe Mafu affirmed: "Women play an extremely important role in society, if we do not empower women, society will not develop. When talking about preserving national culture and traditions, no one does it better than women." With the VWU's activities in recent years, she believes that the VWU has made positive moves to support women's empowerment in all fields, especially supporting women in politics and start-up business.

In South Africa, all ministries and agencies have units that support and enhance the women’s role and status. In the development process of South African women, everyone must be responsible for, not just one. Ms. Nocawe Mafu also said that the two countries have had many similarities such as the relatively high rate of women participating in different fields. Therefore, she hopes that the two sides will have more opportunities to share and learn from each other's experiences.

In the coming time, VWU’s Vice President also wished to strengthen relationship between women of the two countries through sharing their women’s information in general and in the fields of culture, sports and tourism in particular; visit exchange; and networking of the relevant units of both sides...
