Diverse payment of gratitude activities

Hanoi and the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau has prepared and carried out many programs for payment of gratitude activities to mark the 60th anniversary of War Invalids’ and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (Jul.27).

 

Over the past years, Hanoi city has mobilized many resources in the society to contribute to stabilizing and improving material and spiritual life of contributors.

The city presented 36,566 passbooks worth 11,831 billion VND, built 961 wells worth 1,239 billion VND for policy families in the suburb, take care of more than 2,000 parents of fallen soldiers and war invalids.

In the 1996-2005 period, 65 heroic mothers lived. All were taken care by units and organizations. Some of them were presented with houses of gratitude. The rest had their houses repaired.

In addition, they were presented with savings books and family households such as televisions, cases, fans and clothes.

Moreover, units and local authorities visited and gave presents to them o­n festivals; provided regular healthcare and took care of them when they were sick.

Authorities also carefully organized funeral ceremonies for those who died.

The city implemented the ordinance o­n honouring Vietnamese heroic mothers.

On this occasion, the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau has held cultural and art programs in localities.

A 180-minitue program to mark the War Invalids’ and Fallen Soldiers’ Day will be broadcast live o­n July 27th. It will include reportages, video clips and exchanges with characteristics.

The program will be organized by the Vietnam Television and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfare under the direct leadership of the Prime Minister.

It will focus o­n three issues: patriotism and the undaunted sacrifice of elders; party and state policies for war invalids, fallen soldiers, and contributors to the revolution; gratitude of young generation to heroic tradition.

At the same time, the program will be held at six places, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Dai Tu district in the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen where the meeting of Jul.27 took place, Hang Duong cemetery in Con Dao, the cemetery Road no 9 in the Central province of Quang Tri, yard of Vietnamese heroic mother Thu’s house in the Central province of Quang Nam.

There are 11 altars in mother Nguyen Thi Thu. All her nine daughters and sons, her husband and her nephew died in the war.
