Bringing information about gender equality and STEM to women and children

The Central of Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) organized the "Mothers & Children with STEM" Festival on March 21, at Duong Quang Ham High School, Hung Yen province.

Attending the event were representatives of the Central VWU, WU of Hung Yen province and some WU’s provinces in the emulation group of the WU’s Red River Delta provinces, the American Center Hanoi, leaders of Hung Yen province, principals of some High Schools in Hung Yen and more than 1,000 teachers, parents and students of Duong Quang Ham High School.

The event aims to respond to the 2023 International Women's Day themed "Digital for All: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality" launched  by the United Nations, to raise awareness, and promote the engagement of women and children, particularly girls in STEM.

At the same time, this is also one of the models to support women's international integration, contributing to the implementation of Resolution 18 of the Vietnam Women's Union on supporting women's international integration until 2030 and is a practical activity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Partnership.

Students exprience the demonstration of STEM models

In one day, teachers, parents and students experienced interesting and useful activities such as quizzes on gender equality and STEM, Robotics competition, demonstration of STEM models, application of digital technology in life, teaching and learning...

Talkshow “Promoting Participation of Women & Children in STEM”

At the Festival, the delegates attended the talkshow "Promoting participation of women & girls in STEM". In the talkshow, teachers, female businesses, parents and students discussed the role of STEM in life, advantages and disadvantages for women and girls when engaging in STEM. At the same time, they also proposed solutions and sent messages to encourage and inspire more women and girls to participate in STEM.

Delegates visit the Technology Experience Zone

The Festival was highly appreciated by the delegates for its content, organization and applicability. Especially the American Center and the U.S. Embassy’s representatives expressed their impression of the enthusiasm and creativity of VWU in its activities. Such collaborative activities will help open up opportunities for cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and the U.S.
