37 outstanding works awarded at national Contest "Listen to Your Child"

Hanoi, November 11: the Vietnam Women’s Union organized the National Final Award Ceremony of the Contest for children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to create gender equality media products titled "Listen to your Child”.

Attending the award ceremony were about 200 delegates, including leaders from the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), the National Assembly, various central ministries, provincial and municipal women's unions, teenagers, and authors with the works selected for the final round.

Speaking at the event, alternate member of CPV Central Committee, VWU Vice President Ton Ngoc Hanh said that the Contest aimed to promote the voices and participation of children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in finding and spreading initiatives and media products to raise gender equality awareness ; creat conditions for children to share their aspirations on issues related to them, especially their dreams of a happy, safe and equal family.

The Contest was co-organized by the Central Vietnam Women's Union, in partnership with Central Council of HYPO (Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ organization) and Ministry of Education and Training from May 1 to Sept 15, 2023 in 50 ethnic minority and mountainous provinces and cities, actracting over 13,000 entries from ethnic minority children.

The works are diverse in content (reflecting real-life issues affecting  children's experiences including domestic violence, gender discrimination, child marriage, gender stereotypes,... ); thereby expressing the children's desire for a happy family.

The provincial VWUs received certificates of merit in the Contest

37 excellent works, consisting of 20 paintings and 17 videos, were chosen by the organizing committee for the final round. The selected works all stand out for their outstanding ideas, effectively convey their messages of the Contest and have a good layout, images and sound.

Many excellent works can be used for communication activities to raise awareness and advocate for solving urgent problems faced by children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
