UN Women boosts cooperation with Vietnam Women’s Union to support women entrepreneurs

On November 4, 2025, Ms. Caroline Nyamayemombe, UN Women Country Representative in Vietnam, visited the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) and met with VWU President Nguyen Thi Tuyen to discuss partnership opportunities following VWU’s recent organizational restructuring.

UN Women welcomed updates on the restructuring and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining ongoing and future initiatives for Vietnamese women.

Tuyen emphasized that the restructuring aims to streamline the political system without altering the VWU’s mandate or its nearly 20 million members and highlighted VWU’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation.

She asked UN Women to provide technical input for integrating gender priorities into key political documents for the 14th National Party Congress and for reviewing amendments to the Gender Equality Law. She also announced the Prime Minister’s approval of the 2026–2035 Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Programme.

UN Women expressed strong support for women’s entrepreneurship and proposed developing a joint project to access international funding in areas such as innovation, digital transformation, and green transition. The organization also committed to sustaining ongoing initiatives, including the EmPower programme on climate and disaster resilience.

Both sides affirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in Vietnam in the new era.
