Welfare program to meet people’s basic needs

By 2020, Vietnam’s social welfare system will be completed, ensuring all citizens a basic living standard and guaranteeing that their essential needs will be met, even through accidents and natural catastrophes.

Elderly, children and the disabled will receive the most assistance.

To reach this goal, the government will diversify the social insurance program and alter health insurance law to benefit as many people as possible.

The draft proposal also made plans to create a more flexible and sustainable labor market by creating jobs and reducing unemployment, with special attention paid to youth and farmers who have lost their land and lack marketable skills.
