Vietnamese female bags third prize at regional Chinese chess champs

Ngo Lan Phuong has won a third prize for Vietnam in the women's individual event of the 14th Asian Chinese Chess Championships, which ended in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on November 7.

Meanwhile, China dominated the tournament by winning top places in the men’s team, women individual and youth individual events.


The six-day championships drew 69 Chinese chess masters from 13 countries and territories in Asia and Oceania, including Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Macau, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.


On this occasion, the Asian Chinese Chess Association conferred its International Master and International Grand Master titles o­n qualified players. Vietnam's Ngo Lan Phuong was bestowed with the International Master title.
