US NGO expands project supporting safe abortion in Viet Nam
IPAS, a pro-abortion US group, is expanding its project on safe abortion to five provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen and Nam Dinh from 2007 to 2009.
Under the project, experts recommended by the World Health Organisation will help train about 100 obstetric doctors from the concerned provinces under safe abortion measures. The trainees will later transfer their acquired knowledge to their colleagues at the local hospitals.
In the first week of January, the project trained 20 doctors and midwives from Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Khanh Hoa provinces.
