Swiss woman honoured for helping disadvantaged children
A Swiss woman, Susanne Schupfer, President of the Association in Support of Vietnamese Children, has been presented with the insignia, "For Peace and Friendship among Peoples", by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations.

At the ceremony, Schupfer handed over gifts to 165 poor pupils in Nha Trang, who recorded good academic results in the 2005-2006 school year.
Since 1995, Schupfer and her association have provided 12.5 billion VND to help poor children attend school and allow their families to improve their economic positions.
Of the sum, 4.5 billion VND was used to pay fees for 5,000 pupils, 4.2 billion VND for the building and upgrade of 466 houses and 900 million VND went to health care activities.
Earlier, Schupfer was awarded the medal of "For the Happiness of the Blind" by the Vietnam Association of the Blind.
