* Thanks to WU’s prestige, about 3,800 members were provided loans with total amount of 12 billions VND to develop their household economy; over 2,200 workers were introduced by the WU to get jobs; Nearly 7,900 female farmers were transferred husbandry and cultivation techniques; more than 47,000 members have accessed to health check-up; 11,500 women in difficulty were supported with over 11 million VND.

* Recently, An Giang WU in coordination with the CambodianWomen’s Union for Peace and Development in 2 provinces of Takeo and Kandal has organized a communication campaign against trafficking in women and children at Primary school “B” Khanh Binh (An Phu – An Giang) with an aim to call for people watchfulness against tricks of brokers for a job or marriage with foreigners; to help support victims to re-integrate into the community; to actively participate in join activities between An Giang WU & women in Takeo and Kandalprovinces in prevention of trafficking in women and children for peace, stability and development of the 2 countries.

* In the first quarter of 2008, Center of marriage counseling and supporting of AnGiang provincial WU provided consultancy for 60 women who want to get married to theforeigners (most of them were married to Taiwanese men andsome to Korean, Canadian, French, American men...) Women and their relatives were provided with information about the culture, customs and other related issues in the perspective countries, law on family and marriage of Vietnam and other countries and relevant issues in order to help 2 sides to have a “voluntary, equal, progressive and monogamy” marriage. Counseling and raising awareness, providing more food for thought before making decisions on marriage to foreigner; it contributes to prevent the illegal marriage intermediary organizations or individuals deceiving Vietnamese women for profit making purpose.

* Provincial WU organized the 2008 performance contest with the theme “Preserving traffic safety and urban order" with the aims to raise awareness of women and people in following law on traffic & urban order. 14 Women units participated in the contest. As the results, the 1^stprize was given to WU of Police in Long Xuyen city, the 2^nd prize for WU of My Hoa Hung commune & My Xuyen ward; the 3^rd prize forWU of My Long & Binh Khanh wards. In addition, the organizing committee also awarded 3 incentive prizes to other teams.
