Peter Yarrow starts out for victims of Agent Orange

Peter Yarrow, former member of the well-known country music band that comprised of Peter, Paul and Mary came back to Hanoi Grand Theater at the night of Mid-Autumn. People crowded into the Theatre despite of rainstorm.

With the same songs of Music speaks louder than words, Leaving o­n a Jet plain, Puff the magic dragon... that he performed in March, but this time, these songs made the singer closer to the audience.

 

Many foreign audiences sang with Peter the melodies that were so familiar with them since their childhood. In particular, Peter has added some words to the song There but for fortune talking about children who are victims of Agent Orange.

 

Vietnamese singer Quang Dung appeared in the 2nd part of the show with 3 Vietnamese songs and sang together with Peter the song Five hundred miles,

 

Return to Vietnam this time, Peter has his wife and son with him. Some times, Peter and his son sang together some hilarious songs. Peter’s wife - a niece of senator Mc Cathy, who stood for Presidency election in 1968, has read a poem titled My Lai dialog composed by her uncle.

 

In this poem, it told, an American solder had talked with a 6 years old boy - the “enemy of the free world” before killing the boy after having killed his parents. Peter accompanied his wife o­n the guitar and followed by the song Blowin’ in the wind (Bob Dylan).

 

Lawyers Jonathan Moore and lawyer Constantine Kokkoris- who are helping Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) to continue the appeal to the American Tribunal were also present at the performance.

 

Peter will continue his performance in Tran Hung Dao Cinema House (Hue city in 22/9) and Ho Chi Minh City Grand Theater in 25/9 to raise fund to support Agent Orange victims. The performance at the night of 29 March collected VND 14 millions and at the night of 18th September VND 8 millions in support to VAVA.
