Nuns in Ho Chi Minh City: nearly 1 billion VND for social activities
It was reported at a conference held in December 2005 by the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union
that in the self-perfection movement of religious nuns over the last 10 years (1996-2005), 1,355 nuns had been acknowledged, of which 110 had distinguished achievements for 5 consecutive years and over.
Calling nuns to improve themselves in terms of knowledge, merits and health, the movement has been attracting high participation by nuns from different religions, encouraging nuns and female religious followers to observe law and Government’s policies, contributing to the common good of society. In 2005 alone, nuns of different religions donated nearly 1 billion VND and 3,420 kilos of rice for charity and social activities.
