Heroine – medical doctor Dang Thuy Tram awarded posthumously with the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”

On 20 Feb. 2006, Chairman of the State Mr. Tran Duc Luong signed Decision No. 247/2006/QD/CTN on conferring posthumously the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” on fallen physician Dang Thuy Tram.

This noble award is not just for MD. Dang Thuy Tram, who heroically sacrificed her life for the national liberation, but also is to pay respect to doctors o­n Vietnam’s Day for Medical Doctors Feb. 27.

 

MD. Dang Thuy Tram is author of the historic Dang Thuy Tram Diary. After coming out in Vietnam, the diary has been translated into several languages and strongly inspires millions of readers inside and outside the country. Not simply a historic document, the diary touches o­n the political awareness and patriotism of the Vietnamese, proving to the people, especially the youth, the value of what they have today, and urging them to take appropriate actions to be worthy of the beautiful life and sacrifice of their peers during resistance wars for national defence.

 

Decision No. 247/2006/QD/CTN reads: Award posthumously the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” o­n fallen MD. Dang Thuy Tram, who was in charge of treatment activities by the clinic of Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province, for her extremely distinguished accomplishments during the anti-American resistance war for national defence.
