“Gender in Science and Technology Development” Conference
At present, the number of women leaders in science research institutes is still limited. Even, in the Ministry of Science and Technology there have been no women as head of the unit but only 8 deputy head and equivalent. The Ministry hasn’t had any award for women in science as an encouragement.
As a part of high qualified human resources, women intellectuals have made significant contribution to development policy-making as well as the application of science and technology into economic development. Due little attention given to training and higher education, number of women at high degree education and high position is still limited.
In this regard, the conference did come out with recommendations and solutions of narrowing the gender gap among researchers in science and technology to submit to leaders in science and technology, the Government and relevant ministries/agencies to create more opportunities and favorable conditions for women’s contribution to national development.
