“Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary” will be translated into Romanian

On November 1st, Romanian former ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Constantin Lupeanu sent a letter to Mrs. Doan Ngoc Tram - mother of war martyr Dang Thuy Tram asking for her permission and have “Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary” published in Romania.

Mr. Constantin Lupeanu was Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam from 2002 to 2004. He is a member of Romanian Writer Association. o­n behalf of translators included Constantin Lupeanu, Horia Garbea and Pham Viet Dao, he wrote this letter to ask for copyright permission.


The diary is planned to come out though Qilinul Publishing House in 2006. In this letter, Lupeanu wrote: “I believe that“Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary” will be a best-seller in Romania, arousing in the audience deep sentiments and sending to them a message of love, friendship and harmony, …”


Mr. Constantin Lupeanu was a diplomat in Asia for nearly 20 years. He translated some Chinese literary works, such as: Kinh Dich (Book of Changes), Lao Xa, Ba Kim into Romanian. He also translated “Diary in Prison” by Ho Chi Minh from original version (in Chinese) and published it. He just finished translating “Ho Xuan Huong poems”. During his term in Vietnam as Romanian Ambassador, he was awarded with the medal “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” and medal “For the Development of Culture and Information”.


Another member of the translator group, writer, professor-doctor Horia Garbea is currently President of Bucarest Writer Sector (Romania). He visited Vietnam in 2003 and was co-author of the book “Winding roads to the land of Nghe” which records Vietnam discoveries by four writers after this trip.


The third member of the translator group is Pham Viet Dao, an expert o­n Romanian culture and literature. He has introduced to the Vietnamese audience seven Rumanian literary works since 2000. He was awarded with Mihai Eminescu Medal by Romanian President for his contribution to the development of Vietnamese and Romanian literature exchanges. His Romanian translation of “Dang Thuy Tram’s Diary” is to be finished in this November. It will be edited by Constantin Lupeanu and Horia Garbea and published in Romania in 2006.
