A photo exhibition on well-known Vietnamese female athletes is underway at Hanoi’s Vietnamese Women’s Museum to welcome the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games.

A hybrid consultation Workshop on monitoring gender mainstreaming in the NTP on socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas was organized on March 31 in Hanoi and other provinces/cities.

On the morning of February 19, in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), the Central Vietnam Women's Union held a conference to review the activities of the Network of Women Leaders - Members of the VWU Central Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term. These members are from ministries and central governmental agencies.

"Ao Dai Week" is being held by the Women's Unions at all levels throughout the country in order to continue to create a spillover effect in the community in preserving and promoting cultural products of Viet Nam.

Responding to the program "Internet and computers for children" launched by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Tiger in 2022, the Women's Union and Youth Union of Hoa Binh Public Security implemented the program of giving computers and warm clothes to poor children in mountainous areas.

On the afternoon of February 6, right after the Viet Nam women's national football team beat the Chinese Taipei with 2-1 score, winning a ticket to the Women's World Cup, the Vietnam Women’s Union rewarded VND 500 million (~22,000 USD) for the team.

On the morning of February 7, in the atmosphere of celebrating new Lunar New Year of the whole country, the central VWU held a get-together for its staffs and employees.

The Kon Tum Provincial Women's Union in collaboration with the Provincial Border Guards, the Women's Unions of Ben Tre, Dong Nai and Hanoi as well as Ben Tre Border Guards launched the 2022 program "Supporting women in border areas" in 04 border communes in Dak Glei and Ngoc Hoi districts. A total fund of over 900 million VND was mobilized for this launching.

In the atmosphere of approaching Vietnamese Traditional New Year (Tet), the Women's Unions at all levels have been organizing many practical and meaningful activities to care for and encourage disadvantaged women and children nationwide especially those affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.

In response to the call of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and VWU’s “Million gifts of love” program – providing social protection for women and children affected by COVID-19, the VWU Presidium has recently issued a plan to implement the “Patron-parents” Program to support orphans, who lost their parents due to the pandemic.

 

Under the theme of the year "Innovation and creativity in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Women's Congress", the following key tasks of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) in 2022 have been mapped out at the 12th Conference of the 12th VWU Central Executive Committee, organized on 28 December 2021 in a hybrid format.

As of January 13, 2022, the program "Million affection gifts" launched by the Vietnam Women's Union has mobilized a total fund of over USD 9.6 million, equivalent to nearly 739,000 gift packs for women and children heavily affected by epidemics and natural disasters. The affection gifts have been given to the needy women, children and pandemics frontline forces.

Microfinance (MF) has been confirmed as an important tool in poverty reduction in our country. With nearly 30 years of operation in the MF, Tinh Thuong Microfinance Organization (TYM) has contributed significantly to reducing poverty as well as to promoting gender equality in Vietnam by enhancing economic power for women. MF in general and TYM in particular have been and will make important contributions to the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) in Vietnam.

The Phu Tho WU recently holds a conference to review 2021’s works & women's movement and deploy tasks for the year 2022.

In the Covid-19 context, the e-commerce market has become more lively than ever. Digital technology and new distribution channels have become an effective solution for Vietnamese businesses to overcome difficulties. E-commerce brings new opportunities from market demands on the basis of changing consumers' purchasing habits, i.e. the shifting from traditional buying habits to buying online.

On the morning of December 8, the Vietnam Women's Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communications organized an online digital literacy training for women in the context of international integration.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on October 15 required ministries, agencies and localities to better implement policies promoting the development of women in general and female entrepreneurs in particular.

Promoting goods on the e-commerce platform is a solution for many business women during the epidemic. This is also a future trend when digital transformation is widely popular around the world, especially in Vietnam.

As many as 480 female migrant workers living in difficult circumstances received gifts worth 500,000 VND each during a programme held in Hanoi on September 18.
