Thong’s photo, entitled ‘Sharing at work’, features an old couple working together on a farm, with smiles on their faces. The photo was taken during Thong’s working visit to Quang Binh province. Sharing his thoughts on the photo, Thong said that family has always maintained a strong attachment in the hearts of the Vietnamese. It is not only our starting point but also the place where we return. The contest conveys a message of humanism, he said, stressing that through images of equal and happy families, the contest reminds people of the core value of life and inspires love and appreciation of their families. Second and third prizes were also presented at the ceremony. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Gustav Dahlin, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Sweden, said that equality is an important issue, which begins in the family and has laid a firm foundation for a modern, creative and prosperous society. Welcoming the entries submitted to the contest, he said that no matter where the photos were sent from, whether from the northern, central or southern regions of Vietnam, all of them reflect interesting aspects of equality within Vietnamese society. The contest was launched in March this year, by the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, in coordination with the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Women’s Museum. It attracted an enthusiastic response from contestants across the country, with thousands of entries being submitted. Twenty outstanding entries of the contest are being displayed at an exhibition opened at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi, which will run for one month. |
