VWU President Ha Thi Nga and U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam discuss about women's empowerment
Ambassador Marc E. Knapper said that Vietnam and the United States have had many cooperation activities in areas such as women's empowerment, promoting gender equality in the workplace, human trafficking prevention, raising women's awareness about digital transformation, etc. This meeting is an opportunity for the two sides to share views on cooperation as well as discuss further activities in the future. He also said Vietnam has many wonderful stories about women, through which the United States can learn a lot about the role of Vietnamese women in the workplace and in politics.
In addition to the current areas of cooperation, Ambassador Marc E. Knapper hoped that in the coming time, the Embassy and the VWU will carry out activities to inspire women and girls to pursue careers related to science, technology, engineering as well as the active participation of women in the field of sports.
Expressing her gratitude for the effective support for the development of Vietnamese women by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam in general and the Ambassador in particular, VWU President Ha Thi Nga said that the two sides can continue to collaborate more on women's management capacity building, communication on gender equality, human trafficking prevention, and improving digital skills for women in international integration, etc.
At the meeting, the two sides proposed to organize a joint activity on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States in 2025.
