VWU First Vice President Visits Jeollanam Province, South Korea

She highlighted how they continue to embody strong qualities, unity, hard work, and resilience in overcoming difficulties to build better lives. With a significant population of over 2,000 Vietnamese residents in Mokpo City, including more than 600 Vietnamese brides, making up more than 50% of foreign women married to Korean men, this community plays a crucial role in the cultural exchange between the two nations.
There were many representatives from different organizations participated in the 2024 Vietnamese People's Day Exchange Program in Mokpo, Jeollanam Province, Korea, including VWU First Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao, Ms. Le Hai Anh, Head of the Department of Science and Education, Vietnam Television (VTV2), city leaders, district leaders, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea, and representatives of the local Vietnamese Association.

During her trip in Korea, Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao visited two Vietnamese brides' families living in Mokpo, presented gifts and words of encouragement. She acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new culture but highlighted the improvements in their living conditions and the community's growing sense of stability. The brides expressed gratitude for the support from Vietnam and called for stronger connections among Vietnamese women across South Korea to foster unity and create opportunities for cultural exchange, solidarity, and mutual support in their second homeland.
In speeches at local cultural performances attended by thousands of people, Ms. Thao proudly recognized the resilience, hard work, and dedication of Vietnamese women in South Korea and around the world. She encouraged them to continue embracing the traditional, nurturing their cultural heritage while contributing to their families and societies.

On this occasion, VWU Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao encouraged the Vietnamese women to consider the Vietnam Women's Union as a supportive home, sharing both joys and difficulties. She emphasized the importance of embodying the values of modern Vietnamese women: being educated, ethical, healthy, and responsible for themselves, their families, and society; preserving the beauty of both Vietnamese and Korean cultures for future generations. She also called on local authorities to continue supporting the Vietnamese community in Jeollanam, including efforts to help women obtain citizenship and fully integrate into Korean life, contribute to local development.
This is an annual cooperation activity between VTV2, Vietnam Television, and Mokpo MBC Television in Jeollanam Province, South Korea. This year's art program is the first one held since 2 years of cooperation, a gift from Vietnam and Vietnamese artists to delegates and people in Mokpo and Haenam. |
