VWU delegation attends 2014 Korea International Women's Invention Exposition (KIWIE 2014)
With the message "Women Inventors’ Network for Creative Business" and the theme "The Creative Economy: Putting Innovation into Action", the KIWIE 2014 attracted 150 participants from 25 countries.
At the Forum, Vice President Bui Thi Hoa shared Vietnam's policies on women owned enterprises and VWU’s support for women entrepreneurs such as business start-up, credit support, transfer of science and technology, capacity building for women entrepreneurs, market linkage, organization of the Vietnam Women’s Innovation Day... Ms. Bui Hoa emphasized “The prosperity of women-owned entreprises is closely attached to the creation of the best employment opportunities for women - the most important target to empower women economically and this is also an important task of the VWU". Her presentation was appreciated by the participants, who highly viewed the efforts and initiatives of the VWU in supporting women entrepreneurs and encouraging the innovation spirit of women. Cooperation potentials between Vietnamese and Korean women was also an interest of the participants.
The Vietnamese delegation made good impression at KIWIE 2014. Of the Vietnamese invention products brought into exhibition, the instance brown rice of Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Dung from Virice Co., Ltd won a Gold Prize and the coconut milk mask of Ms. Truong Thi Cam Hong from Cuu Long Handicrafts Cooperative won a Silver Prize.
On the sideline of the Exhibition, the Vietnam delegation had meetings with several organizations such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Korea and the World Women Inventors & Entrepreneurs Association (WWIEA). Especially, the delegation was welcomed by the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA); the meeting opened up potential cooperation between KOICA and VWU in the near future.
While in Korea, the delegation also met with the Embassy of Vietnam, the Vietnam Women's Association in Korea, and visited a Support Center for Multi-Cultural Families . Vice President Bui Thi Hoa informed the Vietnamese women in Korea about the VWU’s activities and issues of concern. The women expressed their desire to be supported by the VWU to strengthen the Vietnam Women's Association in Korea and be recognized as a member organization of the VWU. They also expect the VWU to cooperate closely with Korean partners so that the Vietnam female marriage migrants in Korea could have a more stable and equal life and have access to culture events specialized for them in Korea. The delegation acknowledged the women’s contributions, which would be forwarded to the relevant agencies of Vietnam and Korea.
