They are “Viet Nam Soul Food” by Ha Mai, a celebrated cook in Singapore and “Feast of Flavours From Vietnamese Kitchen: A step-by-step culinary adventure” by Nguyen Thanh Diep. Both published by the world-famous cooking book publisher Marshall Cavendish Cuisine, the books have been introduced by major newspapers in Singapore and Malaysia.
The Star (Malaysia) suggests its readers to try Vietnamese food for a change. In addition to its tastiness, Vietnamese cuisine is praised by many people as the most healthy food on earth.
The two books introduce more than 100 traditional courses from all over Vietnam. The two female authors, one from the North and one from the South, also give such detailed instructions that any amateur cook can follow.
Talking with the press, Ha Mai, a prize-winning cook in Singapore, confirmed that Vietnamese cuisine was becoming more and more popular in Asia and was selling well as a trademark.
Also according to the Star, Vietnamese cuisine, though made a debut in Asia just recently, has become very popular due to its fine combination of old-dated national customs and those from neighbor countries, i.e. China, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. Vietnamese culinary arts also bear Western influence.
