Vietnam Women’s Union President welcomes Korean Democratic Women’s Union delegation

On September 16th at the VWU headquarters, VWU President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa cordially received the Korean Democratic Women’s Union (KDWU) delegation led by Vice Chairwoman Chae Chun Hui on their Vietnam visit.

Ms. Chae Chun Hui expressed her happiness to visit and work with VWU and thanked President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa for her time with the delegation. Introducing the DPRK socio-economic development and KDWU’s recent activities, she appreciated the friendship between the KDWU and VWU and wished for more fruitful cooperation between the two women’s organizations in the future. Ms. Chae Hui Chun also expressed her satisfaction about their activities in Vietnam over the past days.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa warmly welcomed KDWU delegation and spoke highly of the traditional relationship between the two countries and the two women’s organizations. She introduced to the delegation the Vietnamese women’s patriotic tradition from the early history with the two Trung sisters and ladyTrieu. In 2015, the VWU will celebrate its 85th anniversary. Since its foundation, the VWU has always unified women and promoted women’s role in contributing to the society development. The Party and State of Vietnam always appreciate the role of Vietnamese women in the family and society. President Ho Chi Minh highly spoke of the Vietnamese women, "With their heartfelt efforts our women – both young and old- have built and woven the country of Vietnam to make it even more beautiful” andawarded them with the 8 golden words "Bravery- Staunchness – Faithfulness- Resourcefulness”.

VWU President also informed the delegation about the Vietnamese women's movements and VWU’s activities in recent years, such as its participation in formulating laws and policies o­n gender equality, provision of social counter arguments to such laws and policies; promotion of women’s participation in management and leadership; support for women in economic development and poverty reduction through loans giving, vocational training and job creation; etc. VWU’s movements, campaigns and programs have been organized throughout the country, such as the movement “Building the family of 5 Without-s and 3 Clean-s”…

The delegation also visited and shared experiences in IEC and publishing activities with the Vietnam Women’s Publishing House.

KDWU delegation tours the book store of the Vietnam Women’s Publishing House

On the same day, Mr. Hoang Binh Quan – a Party Central Committee’s Member, Head of thePCC Commission for External Relations, received the KDWU delegation.

While in Vietnam, the delegation also visited and worked with the Vietnam Peace Tour Joint Stock Company, the Women's Unions of Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Duong province, the Vietnam Women's Museum, and the Vietnam- DPRK Friendship Kindergarten. The visit opened new cooperation opportunities between the two women’s organizations, such as cultural-exchange exhibitions and tourist delegations from Vietnam to the DPRK.
