Vietnam Women’s Museum receives objects
A total of 48 various types of artifacts were received at this time: Jewelry, clothes, religious artifacts, children teaching artifacts … Many were made by ethnic groups such as Cham, Lolo, Dao, Mong, Thai, Xa Pho, Nung, Tay, San Diu and were made from materials including bone, horn, silver, fabric, wood, hair, and aluminum. There are many valuable objects, for example, betel mortar made of elephant’s teeth; a silver necklace; a pair of silver earrings made from ancient French coins; Dao women’s hats made of silver, cotton and people’s hair; and a bronze set of bells in eight-sign shape.
Almost all of these objects were made at the beginning of the 20th century and handmade. This set of artifacts show the talent, creativity and aesthetics as well as the sophistication of the ethnic groups’ women.
This set of artifacts enriches the collection of the Vietnam Women’s Museum and it is the first step to establish a relationship between the museum and private collectors who have the same objective of upholding the cultural values of the country.
