Vietnam Women's Union delegation visits US and Japan

From April 17-28, 2025, the delegation of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) led by First Vice President Do Thi Thu Thao paid a working visit to the United States and Japan.

In the United States, the delegation worked with the UN Women, Asia Foundation (TAF), and VISA Foundation  to learn about their experiences in supporting women in digital transformation. Some good practices and experiences learnt were digital capacity improvement for women, support for businesses owned by women or with a large number of female workers to apply digital technology in production, digital platform building to protect women from cybercrimes, initiatives to call for global commitments and actions to promote a more equitable and inclusive digital transformation.

While in the United States, the delegation visited and worked with the Embassy of Vietnam and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, thereby understanding more about the Vietnam - US relationship, Vietnamese community and overseas Vietnamese women in the US and Vietnam's participation in the UN, especially in the field of gender equality and women's development. The delegation also met with TAF Vice President Ms. Suzanne K. Siskel and the TAF's Lotus Circle to share about women empowerment.

In Japan, the delegation attended a series of activities organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Osaka and the Vietnamese Association in Kansai: Celebration of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Kansai; Launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Kansai; Forum on safe migration; Launching ceremony of the Day to Honor Vietnamese Language and the Contest to Find Ambassadors of Vietnamese language Abroad in 2024 in Kansai; Hung King's death anniversary and Vietnam Day in Osaka. On this occasion, the delegation had the opportunity to meet overseas women, learning about their lives and encouraging them to unite and support each other in Japan as well as to preserve national cultural identity and contribute to Vietnam’s development.

The delegation's visit and work in the two countries was a great success. The delegation shared about VWU’s activitities, gaining a lot of good experience and practices that can be applied in Vietnam, networking with cooperative partners and connecting Vietnamese women abroad with domestic ones.
