Vietnam ranks 62nd in child health index

Vietnam was ranked 62nd in the child health index and 39th in the mother health index among 94 countries surveyed by the Union of Save the Children Organisations.

A general report o­n the survey of care for children and mothers by the Union of Save the Children Organisations was introduced by the Vietnamese Health Ministry in Hanoi o­n December 8th.

 

According to the report, the mortality rate among Vietnamese newborns is 1.8 percent, equal to that of other countries that have higher average incomes such as Romania and Brazil.  

The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) also recognised Vietnam in an October nutrition conference as the sole country in the region to obtain a malnutrition reduction rate of 1.8 percent per year, as compared to the target of 2 percent.
