Than secures second silver for Việt Nam

VietNamNet Bridge - Ca Thi Than secured the silver medal in the girls’ 800m at the Asian Youth Games on July 3 in Singapore.

Than ran two minutes 21.63 seconds whileIndia’s Namita Kabat took the gold in 2.15:55.

Earlier o­n Thursday, Le Binh Dinh was second in the girl’s 400m hurdles in 1.02:79 behind Cheng Yafan, from China.

In table tennis, the Vietnamese pairing of Le Anh Tuan and Nguyen Thi Viet Linh beat Singapore’s Tay Jit Kiat and Chau Hai Qing 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 12-10 but lost 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 to Kim Donghyun and Yang Haeun from South Korea.

Earlier, Doan Ba Tuan Anh and Nguyen Hong Tam lost to Cheng Jingqi and Chen Meng of China 5-11, 6-11, 4-11.

In swimming, China’s Lui Lan was the top qualifier for the girl’s 50m butterfly in 27.96 seconds.

Lui also qualified for the 200m butterfly when winning her heat from Yoo Giyeon, of North Korea, and Kazakhstan’s Elmira Algaliyeva.

Other 50m finalists are Hong Kong’s Chan Kin Lok, who swam 29.01, and Viet Nam’s Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, who clocked 29.53.

In bowling, Japan are leading with a combined 2,552 pinfalls, with Takuma Echigo contributing 708.

The highest pinfall count went to Michael Mak Cheuk Yin, of Hong Kong, with 720.

Second are Hong Kong o­n 2,545 from hosts Singapore with 2,485.

In shooting, with an overall score of 480.7, South Korea’s Kim Jangmi won the girls’ 10m air pistol final.

"I didn’t know I was in the lead until after the eighth shot," Kim said.

Zhang Lei, from China was second with 476.3, while South Korea’s Bae Yuin was next o­n 476.
