Sharing information about women and gender equality

At the workshop, participants focused on discussing the situation of young women, women entrepreneurs, women – violence victims and problems faced by women in general and women workers in particular in the context of the ASEAN regional integration.
Regarding young women, besides their positive points such as improved professional skills, educational levels, strong desire for career development, certain issues still exist among this group which need to be paid more attention to such as their spiritual life, employment, living ideology, such marriage and family tendencies as single motherhood, cohabitation, test marriage etc.
Regarding women – violence victims, despite a decrease in reported cases for the period 2012-2014, violence against women still exists in many families in different forms and due to various causes.The method of collecting statistical figures and data on domestic violence needs to be improved in some localities.
Women entrepreneurs have made contributions to national GDP growth, creating jobs for many people including women. The international integration, particularly the ASEAN Economic Community would bring both opportunities and challenges to women entrepreneurs which require them to improve business competitiveness in terms of finance, technology, business management skills...

Speaking at the workshop, VWU President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa informed the participants about VWU efforts in supporting women, thus contributing to achieving gender equality goal, with a focus on poverty reduction, formulation of laws and policies related to women and gender equality and supervision of their enforcement. She affirmed that the presentations and ideas given at this workshop are good suggestions for VWU activities in the time to come and promised that the VWU would organize similar workshops for further exchanging practical and scientific information on women and gender equality in order to better implement the VWU’s representation roles.
