The winners are Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh from the Institute for Tropical Technology, Dr. Doan Thi Mai Huong from Institute of Marine Biochemistry under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, a lecturer from Hanoi University of Natural Science.
Launched in 1998, the L'Oreal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science is the cooperation between the L'Oreal Group and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). It is aimed to heighten the position of women in science by recognising outstanding female researchers for great contributions to scientific development.
The award was first granted to Vietnamese women in 2008. From 2011, the individual scholarship for Vietnamese women will be raised to VND200 million.
