Opening ceremony of capacity-building training for Lao Women’s Union officials in 2025

On the morning of October 15, 2025, the opening ceremony of capacity-building training for Lao Women’s Union officials took place at the Vietnam Women's Academy (VWA).

This program is part of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) and the Lao Women’s Union (LWU) for the 2022–2027 period. The training will last for 60 days.

Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Tran Lan Phuong, VWU Vice - President; Ms. Ha Thi Thanh Van, VWA Vice - Director; Ms. Amaly Chanthaphone, Director-General and Party Secretary of the Lao PDR President's Office; along with 15 LWU officials.

Overview of the opening ceremony

In her opening remarks, VWU Vice-President Tran Lan Phuong warmly welcomed the 15 Lao participants to attend the training. She emphasized the deep-rooted traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. Within that relationship, the women of both countries have always been trusted friends, sharing and striving together for the common goal of development, peace, progress and gender equality.

She said that this training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in women’s union work and women’s movement, while also an opportunity for exchange and sharing of practical experiences between officials of two organizations, marking a meaningful milestone in the cooperation between the women of Vietnam and Laos.

On behalf of the Lao delegation, Ms. Amaly Chanthaphone expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Vietnamese Government, ministries and agencies, and especially the VWU for creating favorable conditions for the Lao participants to pursue this training opportunity. She affirmed the Lao delegation’s commitment to learning to both gain valuable experience and honor the support of the Vietnamese people. She also expressed her hope that the VWU, VWA and trainers would share practical insights to help apply the knowledge effectively in Laos.
