Literacy program for grassroots Women’s Union cadres
In the ceremony, VWU President Ms. Ha Thi Khiet specifically addressed the illiteracy and reilliteracy situation in many localities of the country, particularly in mountainous, ethnic, remote and isolated areas.
In the program framework, VWU at all levels and Education sector will undertake surveys on the number of illiterate women cadres and work out measures of mobilization, communication and assistance for women cadres to attend starter and post-starter literacy courses and to accomplish primary education.
The program target is to achieve illiteracy eradication in 100% of key cadres from commune/ward/town Women’s Unions in hard-core difficult regions by the end of 2006, bringing literacy rate among women aged 15-35 to 99% and aiming at primary education universalization in grassroots Women’s Union cadres.
