Letter of Thanks from MTV EXIT

21/05/2010
In the framework of the campaign against human trafficking headed by MTV EXIT – the Music Television Channel for Asia - having had success in other Asian countries, MTV EXIT launched the campaign in Vietnam in cooperation with some Ministries and organizations including Vietnam Women’s Union. The four live concerts in four cities: Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City were beyond the success. The program was broadcast repeatedly on a number of television channels in Vietnam. We would like to post the thank-you letter from Mr Simon Goff, executive director of the MTV EXIT campaign to the Vietnamese Women's Union.

On behalf of the entire MTV EXIT team, I would like to express our sincere thanks for your support and the support of the Vietnam Women’s Union of the MTV EXIT Live in Vietnam concert tour which took place from 27 March to 17 April 2010. Over 4 weeks, with the support of USAID, AusAID and the Government of Vietnam, we successfully produced 4 live events in Hanoi, Halong Bay, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City and reached at least 80,000 people through these on-the-ground events.

The concerts featured some of Vietnam’s most popular artists, including Ha Anh Tuan, Phuong Vy and Pham Anh Khoa, as well as international artists Super Junior, Kate Miller-Heidke and The Click Five, and also involved a number of anti-trafficking NGOs who handed out key information about trafficking in Vietnam.

The concert in Hanoi was a huge success, and we had the biggest concert audience attendance in the history of the MTV EXIT campaign. We have been producing live events across Asia and Europe for the last 5 years, and this concert was by far the most successful so far, with over 45,000 Vietnamese Youth in attendance.

Thank you for joining the fight to end exploitation and trafficking in Vietnam. With your support, we are helping to put an end to this tragic form of modern day slavery. Equally important to our on the ground campaign is the continued reach of our on air campaign. After the successful concerts to raise awareness of human trafficking across the country, we have made two TV shows: MTV EXIT Live in Vietnam and Super Junior Live in Hanoi.

MTV EXIT Live in Vietnam has already been broadcast:

April 24 on VTV 3 at 10h00; May 1 on VCTV1 at 19h45; May 4 on VTV6 at 22h00

There will be a further 6 broadcasts of this program on Yan TV:

May 26 at 20:45; May 27 at 06:45; May 28 at 21:45; May 29 at 09:45; May 31 at 15:00; May 31 at 22:45

MTV EXIT is continuing to work with VTV and Yan TV to maximize airings of these programs, as well the

Super Junior Live in Hanoi program.

We look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Simon Goff
