Hand-over of clean water and sanitation system for medical clinic and kindergarten in Hoa An commune

On July 25, 2017, Tuyen Quang Women's Union, through the Viet Nam Women’s Union, in collaboration with Latter - Day Saints Charities (LDSC) and People's Committee of Chiem Hoa District organized a Hand-over Ceremony of clean water and sanitation system for the medical clinic and kindergarten of Hoa An commune, Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province.

After more than 3 months under construction (starting in early 2017) with a total budget of over 500 million VND (approximately 22,000 USD), a water system and latrine for the medical clinic and a latrine for the kindergarten in Hoa An commune have been completed and put into use.

Hoa An Kindergarten was invested to build a new 4-rooms latrine of over 20m2 in size, with an adequate lighting and clean water system which can meet the needs of 210 school children. In addition, the school was also supported by LDSC with a number of teaching and day-care facilities and equipment. The medical clinic was invested in a new 4-rooms latrine and a clean water system to replace the old and polluted ones. It’s believed that these works and support by the LDSC will help improve the school children’s health and the quality of teaching and learning at the kindergarten as well as the quality of local people's health care at the medical clinic.

As a charity organization, since the 2000s, LDSC, in cooperation with the Vietnam Women’s Union has provided thousands of wheelchairs and walkers for people with disability in Vietnam and supported provinces in building clean water and sanitation system, contributing to improving the living condition of the local people and the development of these provinces.
