Government to spend US $174 million on HIV prevention

The Government plans to spend nearly VND 2,786 billion (US $174 million) on the fight against HIV/AIDS between now and 2010.

The figure was released at the second National Conference o­n HIV/AIDS centers in52 out of the 64 provinces and cities nationwide.

 

Under the plan, HIV-infected pregnant women and children are to be given priority o­n Vietnam’s HIV/AIDS prevention program through 2010. Statistics show that 15%of under 15 HIV/AIDS child patients in Vietnam contracted the virus from their mothers.
