VietNamNet Bridge – The first-ever national week for Vietnamese women will be held in Ha Noi and HCM City from March 1-8, announced vice chairman of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Doan Duy Khuong during a press conference yesterday, January 12.

The week, endorsed by the Government, will be one of the most important events to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi. It will be co-organised by the VCCI and the Viet Nam Women Union.

The event aimed to honour outstanding Vietnamese women in general and women entrepreneurs in particular for their achievements in business and production, as well as their effective contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, Khuong said.

It will comprise a business conference in HCM City on March 3, another in Ha Noi on March 6, a week-long photo exhibition in both cities and other activities.

"We hope to attract over 1,000 businesswomen to participate in the forthcoming business conferences, where they can share experiences in dealing with the economic difficulties over the previous year," said chairwoman of the Viet Nam Businesswomen Council Tran Thi Thuy.

An award granting ceremony, slated to be held on March 6, would also be included, she said, adding that up to 100 exemplary businesswomen would receive "Golden Rose" cups. A businesswoman must obey all State policies and take part in social works; be dynamic and creative in business administration and continue to improve her professional knowledge to get the award, Thuy said.

The awards will also be granted for collective successes, including company revenues, technology and equipment renovations, training, tax paying and company trademarks, as well as community contributions.

Meanwhile, "Golden Rose" insignias will be handed to six female leaders of the Party and Government.

The event organisers said they hoped that the activities during the week would connect Vietnamese businesswomen and women who have affirmed their positions in society in an attempt to recommend the Government solve problems facing women, and promote their roles in doing business.
