Female athletes meet before 23rd SEA Games

Sixty female athletes representing 280 athletes training at the Hanoi-based National Sports Centre No 1 attended the meeting.

Female athletes have made great contribution to the success of the Vietnamese sports delegations since the 16^th SEA Games, said Dang Ngoc Tuan, director of the sports centre.

He added that the number of medals female athletes won at the 22^nd SEA Games in Vietnam accounted for 48% of the total medals gained by Vietnamese athletes. Vietnamese female athletes are determined to gain 50% of the total medals due to be won by athletes of Vietnam at the 23^rd event, Mr Tuan said.

The Vietnam Women’s Union expressed their confidence in Vietnam’s female athletes and said female athletes and trainers should try their best to bring pride to the nation at the 23^rd event in the Philippines.

The women’s union presented VND 50 million at the meeting to female athletes and trainers to encourage them compete well at the 23^rd SEA Games.
