Elderly care fund makes debut
The fund places health care and emotional well being as priorities in it mission statement and is financed through contributions from domestic and overseas organizations and individuals.
Nguyen Tan Trinh, President of the Vietnam Elderly Association, highlighted the fact that more than 70% of elderly Vietnamese live in rural and poor areas and the fund is expected to improve the living conditions of the elderly, especially who are lonely or disabled.
Speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate the fund, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said that the Vietnamese Government views the elderly as treasures of the nation. He went on to call on ministries, industries, provinces, cities, domestic and overseas businesses, organizations and individuals to all contribute to the fund.
On making its debut the charity raised close to VND 1.2 billion in donations from social organizations, businesses and individuals.
