Efficiency of the community-based trusted addresses in Tan Hoa Thanh commune, Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province

Implementing the Resolution of the 11th National Women’s Congress, aiming at reduction of domestic violence and protection of social security in neighborhoods, the Women's Union of Tan Hoa Thanh commune (Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province) has established 7 community-based trusted addresses in 7 hamlets for the first half of 2013,. These trusted addresses were set up by the decision of the Communal People’s Committee, They operate under the supervision of a 3-member team, in which Head of the Women’s Chapter works as team leader, hamlet’s Police Officer as Team Deputy, and head of hamlet as team member. To the end of the year, new trusted addresses will be set up in the last hamlet, reaching the target of all hamlets in the commune having trusted addresses

The trusted addresses are to receive victims of domestic violence, provide them with support, counseling and shelter, and inform the competent authorities of the cases for timely and appropriate responses. These are also the places to conduct reconciliation of the conflicts among brothers, relatives and neighbors; disputes over land and property inheritance, and other litigation in the area. In such a case, the reconciliation group works together with the trusted addresses to solve it.

Since their establishment, the trusted addresses in the commune has successfully handled two cases of domestic violence, 12 disputes over property and land among family members and 7 cases of neighbors conflicts. Effective operation of the trusted addresses has contributed to the success of the campaign "Building the family of 5 Without-s and 3 Clean-s” (with the criterion "family without violence") and the movement of building the new rural (with criterion No. 19 of "sustained social security and order ").
