Conference to honor outstanding female religious dignitaries and sub-dignitaries - members of VWU executive committees at different levels

On the occasion of the 84th anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20th), on the morning of October 10th 2014, the VWU, in collaboration with the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, organized a conference in Hanoi to honor outstanding female religious dignitaries and sub-dignitaries who are members of VWU executive committees at different levels.

 The conference was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, VWU President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa and 98 female religious dignitaries, deacons and religious women representing over 6,000 religious women – members of VWU executive committees at different levels.

 

At the conference, VWU President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa stated that “Over the recent years, WUs at all levels have paid due attention to communicating and motivating to unite religious women. The content o­n caring for religious women has been incorporated in the National Women Congress Resolution and translated in the VWU’s specific programs and activities. The role of VWU executive committee members who are dignitaries and sub- dignitaries has been well-promoted in VWU activities in religious areas”.

 

The VWU President’s speech was elaborated by the participants’ sharing o­n their efforts in communicating to and encouraging religious women to implement the Party’s guidelines and the State’s laws and policies, contributing to ensuring social security and safety; actively participating in various charity and voluntary activities, for examples, establishing centers for orphans and disadvantaged children, running free-of-charge health clinics, building affection houses, caring for Vietnamese Hero mothers and helpless older people, distributing free meal boxes to poor patients, ect. They are also a core force to encourage religious women to join VWU meetings and to creatively and effectively motivate the women to participate in the Union’s movements, campaigns and key tasks which helps them develop economy for poverty reduction and build-up happy families, thus contributing to strengthening the VWU.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam praised recent achievements made by outstanding female dignitaries and sub-dignitaries and affirmed that they are the embodiment of love, efforts and self-improvement towards the good and the beautiful. The Prime Minister hoped that the spirit and values would be shared and nurtured in every family, organization and society for Vietnam to develop. He also suggested that WUs at different levels, via their programs and movements, would take greater care of women; develop and replicate good models and practices to further promote the role of women, particularly religious o­nes, thus helping them become self-confident, overcome difficulties in life, and contribute to the overall development of the country.

 

On this occasion, 98 outstanding female dignitaries and sub-dignitaries who are members of VWU executive committees at different levels were awarded certificates of merit by VWU Presidium.

VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan receives the delegates

 

On the afternoon of October 10th 2014, the conference delegates visited the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee. Speaking at the meeting, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan judged them as women of "three good-s", specifically good at raising the awareness of religious women in particular and religious people in general o­n the right to freedom of religion, o­n the Party and State guidelines and policies o­n religions; good at helping o­ne another in economic development, caring for the poor and involving in charity work; and good at VWU work, mobilizing and encouraging women to join VWU activities, contributing to strengthening the VWU. He expressed the expectation that female dignitaries and sub-dignitaries would continue their role in preserving cultural traditions and building up the national unity for the national development and defense.

Earlier, o­n October 9th, the delegation had a meeting with State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan. At the meeting, the Vice President affirmed that the female dignitaries and sub-dignitaries are typical examples of well harmonizing life and religions and hoped that they would build upon their achievements to strive to better perform their religious duties and the VWU’s six tasks, to be exemplary figures, promoting fine qualities of Vietnamese women.

 

During their stay to attend the conference, the delegates visited and offered incense at the Fallen Hero Monument o­n Bac Son Road, paid a tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visited the Presidential Palace Historical Site.
