Border-area students become the core of promoting gender equality

Every month, 30 Bru-Van Kieu and Pa Ko students (15 boys and 15 girls) gather for vibrant sessions where they discuss adolescence, gender, family communication, and child rights. More than a learning space, the club empowers students to voice opinions, practice leadership, and become advocates for gender equality in their communities.
Behind each session are dedicated facilitators, who design activities, guide debates, plays, and games, and inspire students to develop creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills. As a facilitator, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha noted that the club helps young people “change the way they think, learn, and act,” challenging outdated customs in remote areas.

Through interactive activities on gender equality, child marriage prevention, reproductive health, and child protection, members gain both knowledge and confidence. Many students have become active communicators, leading school events, creating plays, and spreading awareness. Student Ho Thi Bua shared: “The club has given us knowledge, skills, and confidence to become pioneers in school and community activities.”
Beyond the classroom, club members participate in provincial competitions, producing media products and performances that raise awareness of gender equality and child protection, earning recognition and awards. Training workshops also strengthen both facilitators and members, expanding the club’s influence.
The “Leaders of Change” Club becomes a core force in gender equality communication campaigns and school violence prevention
According to Ms. Ho Thi Nu, Chairwoman of A Doi Commune Women’s Union, the club has contributed to social transformation, promote children's confidence and leadership skills, and encourage them to boldly participate in protecting their own rights.
From a small school-based initiative, the “Leaders of Change” Club is nurturing a new generation of youth leaders, planting the seeds of sustainable change, contributing to the realization of gender equality and protecting children's rights.
