Raising capacities for Marriage Supporting Centers of provincial/municipal Women’s Union (WU)
Consensusly working out an overall and general action plan for 5 years of implementing the Project on International Marriage Supporting, in accordance with the practical conditions of Provincial/Municipal Marriage Supporting Centers was the content of the Orientation workshop on the International Marriage Supporting Project co-organized by the VWU and the Vietnam Women’s Cultural Center (VWCC – Republic of Korea) from 14th to 15th March, 2007 at the Head office of the Central VWU. -
11 tenures – 1,038 National Assembly Women Deputies
60 years (1946 – 2006) of the National Assembly experienced 11 tenures. 1,038 women deputies elected to the National Assembly (accounted for 21.4%). -
WUs of cities/provinces actively participate in the NA’s election
According to the report from these missions, the representation of female candidates in some cities/provinces reaches the high rate. Their educational level is also higher comparing to previous terms (most of them are university and post-university graduates); many women including ethnic women hold leading position of agencies in different fields. -
Roles of WU at all levels in national security maintenance
Ky Son (Nghe An) is a border mountainous district with 192 km of borderline, severe weather conditions and difficult access. -

On the occasion of the 1967th anniversary of The Two Trung Sisters, on 6 January in Lunar Year (22nd February, 2007), VWU’s Standing Committee offered incense in commemoration of the Two Trung Sisters in the Temple in Me Linh districts – Vinh Phuc Province. -

Contraceptive use increases in north
Birth control in the mountainous northern province of Lai Chau was once such an afterthought that condoms were used primarily as toys for children. Meanwhile, powerful taboos among Mong ethnic villagers discouraged women from seeing gynaecologists and social workers, leading to sky-high birth rates. -
