  • VWU’s Vice-President Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy receives 3F’s Delegation from Denmark

    Vice-President of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy together with representatives from relevant departments of the Central VWU received a 16-member delegation of the United Federation of Danish Workers (a.k.a. 3F) on 12 April, 2010.
  • Vietnam Women’s Union’s Delegation to Russia, Belarus and Czech Republic

    From March 30 to April 10, 2010, a delegation of Vietnam Women’s Union, headed by President Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, paid a visit to 3 Eastern European countries of Russia, Belarus and Czech Republic.

  • Orientation Workshop on Disaster Risk Management and Response to Climate Change in Vietnam

    During 2 days of 15th – 16th of April 2010, Vietnam Women’s Union in collaboration with Oxfam and Disaster Management Center, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized the Orientation Workshop on Disaster Risk Management and Response to Climate change in Vietnam.

    First I want to express my deepest appreciation to the Government of Vietnam for conferring the Friendship Medal. To both Ann and me, our work with our Vietnamese friends and colleagues during 16 visits to Vietnam, starting in 1978, has been tremendously stimulating and satisfying. Since the time of our youth, to us -- as to millions of others of our generation throughout the world -- Vietnam has been an example of great courage and achievement under the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

    On March 12th, 2010, the Kovalevskaia Prize Committee in Vietnam organized the 25th Anniversary of the Kovalevskaia Prize in Vietnam and held the Kovalevskaia Award Ceremony to 3 individuals for years 2008 and 2009.

    On March 7, the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) celebrated the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and the 1970th anniversary of Trung Sisters (Hai Ba Trung) uprising.
  • KEY ACTIVTIES OF VIETNAM WOMEN’S UNION IN 2010

    The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Women’s Union has declared 2010 to be the year of active participation in the special emulations; improvement of the activity quality of the organization and effectively implementation of the VWU’s mandate of representing and protecting women’s legitimate rights. The key tasks and activities for the VWU in 2010 are:
  • Result of 2 years implementation of the VWU’s mobilization on “Building and Repairing Affection Houses”

    In 2004, Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) launched the Mobilization on “Building Affection Houses” to commemorate 50th Year of the Dien Bien Phu Victory with the aim that by 2010, there will be no families living in dilapidated or temporary houses. At the 3rd session (July, 2008) of VWU Executive Committee, VWU continued to promote the Mobilization on “Building Affection Houses” for poor women, single women and disabled women with especially difficult situations with the target that “There is every week getting one new house built for poor women - poor family”.
