In order to provide social criticism and contribute to achieving gender equality goals, on the morning of May 19, 2020 the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) organized a consultation workshop on gender aspects of the Draft Law on Vietnamese guest workers under contract (amended) (Law No. 72).

In the morning of July 24, the Ministry of National Defence in collaboration with the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs organized a meeting in Hanoi to express gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers nationwide marking the 73rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2020). It was attended by 300 women representing 4,962 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers across the country.

For the safety of women and children, many suitable and practical models have been developed by Women's Union at all levels to meet the needs of members and women.

At the meeting with Ms. Elisa Fernadez - UN Women Representative in Viet Nam on the afternoon of June 9th, 2020, VWU President Ha Thi Nga expressed her concurrence on women and gender issues raised by UN Women Representative and admitted that they are the common concerns and key areas of further cooperation of the two organizations.

On the morning of June 19 in Hanoi, Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) with the support of the Asia Foundation in Vietnam organized a workshop sharing experiences and initiatives to increase the participation of women in politics, which attracted huge participation of leaders, managers, and experts from ministries, branches, and international organizations.

Twenty-one collections of Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress), which featured world cultural heritages of Vietnam, were introduced to the public at a programme held at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (the Temple of Literature) on June 28.

Establishing and operating “One Stop Support Office” (OSSO) to support sustainable reintegration of repatriating women and their families is an important goal of the Project “Strengthening Vietnamese Capacity for Sustainable Reintegration of Returning Migrants Women and their Households in Vietnam” implemented by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) with the sponsorship of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Vietnam.

A new project targeting the elimination of violence against women and children in Vietnam was launched on June 17, in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A policy advocacy workshop aiming to support returned migrant women and their households took place in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on June 18.

Gender equality should be included in the National Target Programme on New Rural Development as well as new-style rural area building criteria, by mainstreaming gender issues during the implementation of the programme in the years to come, a workshop in Hanoi on June 11 heard.
