"Women-led Green Partnership" project to reduce vulnerability, loss and damage from climate change
On the morning of December 27, in Hanoi, Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam launched the Kick-off and planning workshop for the EU-funded "Women-led Green Partnership" project. The project aims at women empowerment in decision making processes related to climate change adaptation and mitigation in Viet Nam. -

Women play crucial role in plastic waste reduction
According to national statistics, an average of about 1.8 million tonnes of plastic waste is generated annually in Vietnam, of which 90% is buried, filled or incinerated, and only 10% recycled. Meanwhile, 90% of scrap collectors and scavengers are women, a job that exposes them to a toxic environment that negatively affects their health. -

Climate Talks, Mexico: Women Key to Combating Global Warming
UN Women was one of a number of UN agencies and civil society representatives advocating for gender mainstreaming during talks at the UN Climate Change Conference in Cancún, Mexico (COP16), where Governments convened to negotiate how the international community should combat global warming after the Kyoto Protocol meets its end date in 2012. Displaying their fine tradition of diligence, capability and creativeness, Vietnamese women have equally involved in the cause of environment protection and poverty alleviation.
