In March 2006, under the direction of the Vietnam Women's Union Presidium, the Communication and Education Department organized a Conference on implementing clean water - environmental sanitation program year 2006 for the Women's Union staff at all levels of 64 provinces through out the country.

The Kovalevskaia Awards 2005 went to a doctor of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and a group of staff from the Viet Nam Institute of Science and Technology. The awards, made in recognition of females whose scientific studies are highly practically applicable, were presented to the recipients at a ceremony in Ha Noi on May 18.

On Sep. 19, 2005, Tu Du Gyno-Obstetrical Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) announced the birth of the two-thousandth test-tube baby, born to Ms. T.T.M.D, 32 years old.

The Conference was held in Ho Chi Minh City in 27-29 May, 2005. Attending the Conference were arround 80 participants representing Women’s Unions (WU) at different levels in southern provinces of Vietnam (from Da Nang city Southward).

In the cause of environment protection and sustainable development, Vietnam has obtained many achievements and Vietnamese women’s contributions are significant. Since the World Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janero, Brazil, 1992, the role and position of Vietnamese women in environment protection have been recognized and enhanced. Displaying their fine tradition of diligence, capability and creativeness, Vietnamese women have equally involved in the cause of environment protection and poverty alleviation.
