WUs of cities/provinces actively participate in the NA’s election

According to the report from these missions, the representation of female candidates in some cities/provinces reaches the high rate. Their educational level is also higher comparing to previous terms (most of them are university and post-university graduates); many women including ethnic women hold leading position of agencies in different fields.

According to the reports of 41 cities/provinces, after the 2nd negotiation round, there are 258/649 candidates are women (equivalent to 39,7%); among which 34/41 cities/provinces has the rate from 30% and above, exceptionally there are 2 provinces reach the rate higher than 60% which are Cao Bang (61,54%) and Bac Giang (64,29%). There are 29 candidates who are WUs’ staffs of all levels, among them: 19 at provincial level, 6 at district and 2 at grassroots level

 

WUs of all cities/provinces has guided local WUs to participate in the preparation for the election, be proactive in selecting and introducing the right women as candidates; organizing discussions, training for female candidates; promoting communication activities through mass-media

 

For the success of the NA’s Deputies Election, the leadership of VWU requested WUs of all levels to speed up communication activities, especially in late April and early May, integrated with communication content o­n Gender Equality Law; assign staff to follow closely this work at the localities, encourage female electors go to vote; coordinate closely with Fatherland Front in organizing contacts and meetings with electors, workshops and discussions introducing female candidates, striving to reach the rate from 30% of female deputies representation at the 12th NA term.
