On 4th August, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) held a conference to review the joint program in organizing activities for women cadres, civil servants, employees and workers. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - VWU President and Mr. Bui Van Cuong - VGCL Chairman co-chaired the conference.

At her opening remark, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha affirmed that the two organizations alwayswork together and support each other for mutual development. The two organizations share their common task and mission of taking care, protecting legitimate rights and interest of women cadres, public servants and workers. She expected that the review conference’s outputs would provide important information for the VWU when evaluating the women’s movements of the 2012 – 2017 period.

Through implementing the joint program of the period 2012- 2017, the two organizations encouraged women cadres, public servants and workers to broadly participate in the patriotic emulation movement "To do well at both work and home", in association with "Women study actively, work creatively and nurture happy families” movement.

The communication and education for female workers is also carried out through the implementation of the two projects “Communicating and educating Vietnamese women’s moral behavior in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization in 2010 – 2015" and "Educating 5 million mothers on good parenting skills”with more diverse contents in a more innovative, attractive manner. This helps raise female workers’ awareness on preserving and promoting good moral qualities of Vietnamese women; improve their knowledge and skills of children caring and educating and thus promoting their intellectual, capacity and helping them to fulfill their role as workers, wives and mothers, contributing to the country's construction.

At the conference, the participants also discussed about shortcomings, problems raised during the implementation of program as well as about specific activities of the coming period.

VGCL Chairman Bui Van Cuong said that the joint program should define clear objectives, activities and coordination mechanism as well as the responsibilities of the 2 sides. The annual monitoring and evaluation is essential.

The two leaders also agreed that all the joint activities must serve female public servants and workers at best.

Tentatively in September, the two organizations will sign a cooperation program for the next stage.
