Women union of HCM city: Provide more than 650 million VND to buy Lunar New Year presents for poor women and members

The Women’s Union of HCM also gave presents and greetings to over 2,500 families of 24 districts on the Ky Suu Tet Holiday. The cost for these presents was more than 650 million VND.

In Vietnam, there are many families that live in hard conditions. For the Tet Holiday, 1,000 female workers of the Women’s Union could not afford to go back home. The gifts given out in HMC included 200,000 VND in kind including square sticky rice cakes (banh trung), sugars, cooking oil and 100 000 VND in cash. The present may be small, but the Women’s Union hopes that it will bring the holiday cheer to many poor staff, members and families.

The Women’s Union HCM city also visited and celebrated Tet to staff and members of many other centers, including drug rehabilitation centers, HIV infected women, the blind and poor young patients.

During this New Year occasion, the Women’s Union o­n many levels, celebrated and brought Tet to nearly 36 thousand cases, and gave gifts to total around 4.7 billion VND.
