In response to the increasing demand of milk in the market in general, particularly the people in Lac Thuy district, in 2019, Huong's and her husband decided to change their production from planting citrus trees to the dairy farming.

In spite of lack of experiences on taking care of and feeding cow from the beginning, with the knowledge and experience learnt from dairy farmers in Thanh Oai and Ba Vi districts (Hanoi city), after over 1 year, their business has been successful.

“The first thing is to choose good breeds and strictly follow the diet, vaccination as well as daily feeding time... Milking cow breeds prefer the VA06 grass. However, to enable cows producing the highest fresh milk quantity and best quality, foods must include green, dry and starchy feed, and barn should always be airy and clean,” Huong shared her experience of raising milking cows.

Her family has invested in building and expanding the breeding facilities, ensuring the best conditions for food sources and shelter for cows to grow, giving much fresh milk. Starting from 5 pairs of dairy cows, till July 2019, the number of cows of her family has been increased to 39, of which 19 ones producing milk. Every day, for an average cow milk yield of 8 liters/ head per day, one liter is sold of 20,000 - 22,000 VND, Huong's family earns an average income per month from 40-60 million VND, after deducting expenses.

The dairy cow model of Ms. Huong's family - a member of Dong Danh village women union (WU) has opened up a new direction of production for WU’s members in the commune, a bright spot on the development of feeding dairy cattle households to learn, shifting crop and livestock structure to improve agricultural economic value, then making contribution to the new rural development in the locality.
