VWU with action month for environment

The theme of the World Environment Day this year is to call for people’s living in harmony with the nature as being close with the nature will help people live a healthier and happier life and lead to social justice and reduce environmental risks and ecological crisis. This is considered a new and practical measure which contributes to improving living quality and enhancing the harmony relationship between people and the nature.

 By this way, people will come up with specific orientation and activities to deal with global challenges such as climate change, natural resource depletion, energy security and food security. For Vietnam, more than ever, we need to join hands to protect nature and living environment for us and our next generations.

That is the remark by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, VWU Vice-President at the Workshop “Vietnamese women with the protection of natural resources and environment” organized by the VWU and Ba Ria Vung Tau People’s Committee o­n 4th June 2017 at Vung Tau city, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

Attending the workshop were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, VWU Vice-President, Mrs. Nguyen Linh Ngoc, Deputy – Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Dang Minh Thong – Vice President of Ba Ria Vung Tau People’s Committee and representatives from WUs, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of 7 South-East provinces of Vietnam, WUs of Da Nang, Ha Noi, Quang Binh, Gia Lai, Can Tho, lecturers and experts working in environmental protection, departments and members of Vung Tau city WU.

The workshop provides an opportunity for the delegates to share experiences, effective models and recommendations to promote women’s participation in the protection of natural resources and environment.

Presentations and comments at the workshop focused o­n women’s participation in economic restructuring process to develop a green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly economy which reduces dependence o­n natural resources.

Vice-Minister for Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Mrs. Nguyen Linh Ngoc affirmed that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment always encourages and supports activities of environmental protection, capacity and knowledge’s improvement for staff at all levels and people relating to environmental protection. The MONRE will take into account all the comments of participants for better revision and completion of policies and laws to create a favorable legal corridor for organizations and agencies in environmental protection.
