VWU Vice President welcomes Women’s Union of Vientiane, Laos

On behalf of VWU leaders, Vice President Nguyen Thi Tuyet warmly welcomed the delegation’s visit, which provides the Women’s Unions of Vientiane and Hanoi an opportunity to meet and learn for each other.

The Vice President briefed the delegation of the VWU’s priorities at the moment, including orientation for the Women’s Unions of local levels to organize their respective Women Congresses and preparation for the 12^th National Women Congress (scheduled for March 2017). The focus in this process is the preparing of reports to be submitted at the Congresses and the identifying of the next term’s key tasks based o­n Resolutions of the respective Party Congresses, situations of the localities, and aspirations and needs of local women.

As for key tasks in the coming term, according to Vice President Nguyen Thi Tuyet, VWU would continue to motivate and support women in their active learning, creative working, and building of prosperous, progressive and happy families; support women's economic development, focusing o­n supporting female workers and female entrepreneurs in international economic integration; and strengthening VWU institutionally.

On behalf of the delegation, President of Vientiane Women's Union Ms. Khamphay Latsamy expressed her special thanks to Vice President Nguyen Thi Tuyet for the warm welcome and briefed her o­n the delegation activities and results achieved during the visit in Hanoi. She hoped that VWU leaders would give continuous support so that the two municipal Women’s Unions could have more delegation exchange, cooperation for staff training, and sharing lessons learned from women’s movements. Particularly she hoped that conditions would be created for female entrepreneurs of the two cities to cooperate and seek for business opportunities in agriculture, tourism and trade, etc.
